Fun Finds at the Vintage Paper Faire

Saturday I spent the afternoon perusing the San Francisco Vintage Paper Faire. The faire was packed with people sifting through everything from vintage posters to postcards. So many collectors!

If you've purchased from Paris Hotel Boutique, you've probably received a vintage postcard from us. I am fond of old French interiors/exteriors and the hand-tinted cards. I also like old hotel postcards. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Here are some random postcards that I purchased in addition to the French and hotel ones. I love the colors of these bathing beach postcards...the quality of the old linen cards is amazing...

These people are dressed a bit warm for the beach, don't you think?

These linen cards were of celebrities homes, c. 1950's. Whimsical and fun!

I'm off to sort through my big stack of postcards...You may be receiving one!

Pretty Paper!

Today my friend Liz and I attended the Vintage Paper Fair in San Francisco. What fun it was! So many people collecting everything from old photos & postcards, to brochures and posters.

I bought dozens of beautiful vintage postcards from France, and old hotel postcards from the USA. I give these to each customer who purchases something from Paris Hotel Boutique. It's just a little added touch of thanks! I'm so crazy over many of these that it will be hard to part with them!

The show continues tomorrow, and I think I'm going back for more! If you're in the Bay Area, it's from 10-4, free admission.

Whimsical Vintage Hotel Postcards

Vienna Coffee House, Mark Hopkins Hotel, S.F.

I was researching some old hotels and stumbled upon the website, alamedainfo.com. They have beautiful vintage photographs and postcards of hotels and historical sights in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here are some of my favorites. Unfortunately, most of these cute restaurants and bars don't exist anymore. Click on the photos for a large, detailed image. Aren't the colors great?

Picturesque Postcards

Tiny Postcard /Business Card (above) from the Old Poodle Dog Hotel & Restaurant in San Francisco, c. 1849-1900

I love collecting antique and vintage hand-tinted postcards, especially of old hotel interiors and anything French. These Victorian linen postcards are interspersed throughout my home. One of my favorites is the "morning afternoon tea" at the Hotel Oakland with its elegant hotel silver. And as many of you know, I include vintage French postcards with purchases on my website. I just love them framed or sitting amongst a collection!
