Bon Appetit!

You must check out this fabulous website that I found via Di at Designer's Block (Di always finds such interesting things...)

Petrelle, a restaurant in France, has re-created the sights and sounds of their restaurant via their virtual website. Listen to the chef talking, the phone ringing, wine pouring, the cutlery & dishes clinking & clanking, slicing & dicing. And it seems to go on for awhile as if they just kept the audio going. Very atmospheric and some striking images.

Well don't dilly dally here. Go and check out Petrelle's site here. So much fun! And thanks Di for the 'head's up!'

Guess what I've been up to on my day off? Pinning images, of course! Does that count as a day off?

Wanna Play Sleuth?

I've been goofing off again pinning some favorite online photos to Pinterest. I came across this magical image of a floating island from Tumblr. Once again, I can't find any image credits for it. This is becoming a running theme for me, now it's your turn to to take a stab at it.

I was thinking...I'm going out of town until the end of the week. Let's play a little game, shall we?

You help me find the photo credit for this image. First person to find it and leave a comment gets a prize/goody. Don't know what it will be, but it will be something fun. Maybe a vintage treasure!

Let's give credit where credit is due!

Happy Hunting!

So Embarrassed...

Okay, so I'm not a professional writer. I know that. When I signed up for "blogging," I knew that it was going to be challenging. Spelling correctly is a pet peeve of mine. In fact, I used to win the spelling bees in school.

So why hasn't my spell check been correcting me when I've been writing walla! as opposed to voila!? Hmpf. I just stumbled upon the correct spelling of voila and it freaked me out. Where did I come up with 'walla' and what the heck does 'walla' mean? Just looked it up and here is what the dictionary says;

wallah , walla
noun usually in combination
Informal a person involved with or in charge of (a specified thing)
the book wallah

Guess that's not the word I was looking for to "call attention, to express satisfaction or approval, or to suggest an appearance as if by magic!"

So, I just learned something. 1) Sometimes spell check doesn't work and, 2) I'm not a writer.
Voila!

Summer Inspiration: Beach Huts

I've been goofing off way too much on Pinterest and Flickr -- tagging & pinning lovely images that I come across. LOVE these photos of beach huts & cabanas. They're so festive and bright!

Summertime...

If I could escape the fog of San Francisco,

I'd take a long nap right in the middle of a warm beach...

Perhaps I'd hide out in a vintage caravan and have a fancy English breakfast...

or a pink Gypsy Caravan...

I'd invite all of you to a party delivered by Enjoy Cupcakes, and
have treats served to us out of their adorable restored vintage Shasta trailer...

Then we could pay a visit to Fresher Than Fresh Sno Cones in Kansas City for some yummy flavored snow cones such as watermelon basil, lime mint and ginger rose. All served out of their renovated 1957 Shasta trailer.

Ah... it's beginning to feel like Summer...

How about climbing up in a tree house?

Bedtime in the forest...so warm and comfy...

Happy Weekend Everyone!

What Type are You?

This is the most fun interactive quiz from Pentagram that determines what kind of font or type (face) best matches you.

Based a four step process of personality questions, it takes all of 4 minutes of your time, and you'll get quite a chuckle!

After answering the therapist's impatient questions, it was revealed that I am "Architype Van Doesburg." I'm not particularly fond of this typeface, but who can question the therapist?

Whatever Your Plans Are...

Day...

Or night...

Have a fabulous weekend!

American Cupcake, please have a seat...

Am I dreaming?

Yesterday was one of those days that I wish I had my "real" camera and not my cell phone camera! I'm strolling down Union Street in San Francisco and staring at me through the window are rows and rows of whimsical cupcakes. Welcome to American Cupcake.

Are you kidding? Bubble gum, pixie stix and cotton candy cupcakes? I'm in!

Wait, is this a disco? No, it's a restaurant/dessert lounge. White patent leather banquettes and colored “gumball” lights create a Willy Wonka-meets-modern soda fountain effect.

This place is not just for kids. They serve candy cocktails and have an extensive beer and wine menu. How about a single cupcake and wine pairing?

And they have a full menu of "real food" like BBQ chicken sandwiches, tuna melts, cheese plates and more from chef Carina Lampkin.

These cotton candy cupcakes send me over the top! These pretty blue babies have little cotton candy "pops" on them!

Remember Pixie Stix when you were growing up? How about cupcakes dusted with Pixie Stix?

19 cupcake flavors.
8 peanut butter & jelly options.
13 candy cocktail selections.
16 item savory menu.
candy apples, whoopie pies, fried oreos.

Just how fun is this?

They even cater to our four-legged friends...

Although I haven't tasted a cupcake yet, you know I will be back there soon. I did bring my husband home some cotton candy. This is my new favorite place, if only just to look!

If you're in the area, be sure and visit American Cupcake. I promise the eye-candy alone will make you full!

What We Do For Our Four-Legged Friends...

Or... what we make them do for us!

Yesterday was my dog Vito's 10th birthday. Getting into the spirit, I decided to have a party with doggies and adults. For some reason Vito loves Bichons and Havenese, so his close friends were there to celebrate. My friend Lisa generously donated her house for the festivities!

Forgive Vito's bad behavior...

$27 (yes, $27) for an organic dog birthday cake from a dog bakery. Hope they enjoyed it!

little treats for the guests

"Oh, please take these silly hats off of us!"

"Are you kidding me?" -Buster

Speaking of dog parties...I had to share this cute "dessert party" that Kristy of Posh Pixels Design Studio created for her new adopted puppy, Ozzy.

The theme was “Meet the Puppy,” to introduce Ozzy to her family & friends. There was "doggy" food and "people" food.

So beautifully done...

Biscuits & rawhides for the puppies, candy & treats for the humans...

How creative is this?

For the humans...

For the dogs...

Love that party! So talented!

Are we silly? Yes. We love our animals so why not spoil them? They give us so much joy and unconditional love!
